Stack Exchange Chat Easy Input Tools

Provides keyboard shortcuts for common text formatting commands, reducing
the dependency on mouse usage. Current version does not have a configurable set of hotkeys but later versions will.

How to use.

All of the following commands are run if the user has focus in the chat input area.

  • ALT + A inserts a link.
  • ALT + T inserts a site-tag.
  • ALT + B formats text to bold.
  • ALT + I formats text to italics.
  • ALT + S formats text to strike-through.
  • ALT + C formats text to code.

Installation

Click Here to install the latest working version.
Remember to refresh any open chat windows for the script to take effect.

Restrictions

The script does not alter the user selection. If trailing spaces exist they are wrapped with the formatting option and thus will break the formatting.
In tags spaces are not converted into dashes (they probably should be).
insert image may require a user upload and therefore will be put off until a good UX decision is made for how to handle this.

License

This software is released under the GNU GPL version 3. For a full version of the license see here.

Wordpress+iPage === failShip!

So if you were following my old blog you will have seen me complain that iPage is a horribly slow hosting company. And thus my Wordpress install was unusable most of the time due to timeouts and 500 errors.

So I have found FlatPress which is a flat file based blog. I have done some testing on my host and have determined that the main speed issue is on the DB Server, so this should circumvent any more painfulness of reading / updating my blog.

Eventually (in about 9 months) I will give birth to a new blog on a new host. All of the comments / entries to this will be ported.

Cheers!
